Keeping the Focus on Kids

The staff of Bouchard Insurance not only focuses on providing commercial insurance and surety bonding, but also on improving the lives of local children. The Florida-based company recently donated more than $1,200 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County. But that generous donation was only a small part of Bouchard’s relationship with the nonprofit organization. Five members of Bouchard’s staff also recently participated in a Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser, “Bowling for Kids’ Sake,” in Clearwater, Fla.

Greater Michigan Gives Back

The staff and members of the Greater Michigan Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) took time away from the office and jobsite to give back to their community through a week of ABC Cares events. The Midland-based chapter held its first ever ABC Cares Blood Drive on April 9 and its 27th Annual Make-A-Wish Benefit on April 13.

Giving Kids a 'Leg Up'

The Leg Up Farm started as an ambitious idea that sometimes seemed like an impossible goal, but the dedication of its founder and the construction team behind him never wavered. When Louis Castriota’s daughter Brooke was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease at age 1, he immediately began researching how she could get the best care possible. He discovered most treatment plans for a condition like Brooke’s, which involves both cognitive and motor function delays, do not extend past the early intervention phase. After age 3, treatment programs for children with learning disabilities and developmental delays are scarce and unaffordable for most families.
