Every year at the ABC National Convention, the Trimmer Education Foundation conducts our annual charity auction, comprised of both a silent and a live auction to raise money to support ABC's merit shop education and training efforts such as scholarships, grants, student participation in the ABC Legislative Conference, the Craft Professional of the Year award, the Craft Instructor of the Year award and so much more.
The 2007 Trimmer Auction raised over
$140,000.00 with the sale of items donated by chapters and member firms. But the Auction is more than a fundraiser, it's a friendly competition for a good cause. Items range in value from monetary to sentimental to just plain fun. Some of the items auctioned in 2007 include:
- A week's stay at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club villas of Kaua'i Hawaii
- A fly fishing rod and reel set
- Two Pit Passes to the ARCA Re/MAX Series PFG Lester 150
- 1 dozen USDA Prime Nebraska T-Bone Steaks
- A three-day vacation on a houseboat in the Smoky Mountains
- A flag flown over the US Capitol
- Autographed sports memorabilia
- Handmade crafts such as quilted blankets, knitted scarves, copper cutlery and jewelry
- And many creative gift packages, including collections of treats from Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Maine and Colorado.
The 2008 Trimmer Auction will take place during the 2008 ABC National Convention, March 5-9 at the Caribe Hilton & Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Jaun, Puerto Rico. While the event is months away, we will be accepting donations for the auction anytime before
Thursday, January 10, 2008. We understand how busy schedules become during the winter months, and with this year's auction taking place in Puerto Rico, we must allow for longer shipping times.
The Trimmer Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations may be tax-deductible. ABC will provide the necessary documentation for your tax deduction following the Auction.
Thank you for your support of ABC and the Trimmer Education Foundation. Your generosity and thoughtfulness ensure the continuation of John Trimmer's legacy.
