Salting is a weapon organized labor use to try to put companies out of business.
- The union's goal is for salts is to disrupt a company's operations in order to be fired, and then file a charge
- Unions file these frivolous charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) because the technique works
- Salts that are not hired will also file a charge with the NLRB against a company for any number of reasons
The pressure of "salting" is one of the most effective pressure tactics by unions against open shop contractors. ABC's Salting Liability Insurance program:
- Provides and pays for outstanding defense teams to argue the case
- Covers any awards even if the case is decided unfavorably
