Strong Economy, Weaker Dollar Help Construction Materials Prices Recover in January

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15–Overall construction input prices increased 1.1 percent in January, reversing a slight decline in December 2017, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today. Compared to this time last year, overall construction materials prices are up 4.9 percent. Nonresidential construction materials prices are up 4.7 percent year over year and up 1 percent on a monthly basis.

Construction Input Prices Flat in October; Year-over-Year Inflation Remains

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14—Construction input prices remained unchanged on a monthly basis in October, according to analysis of today’s Bureau of Labor Statistics release by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Overall construction input prices have expanded 4.3 percent year over year, while nonresidential input prices have expanded 4.1 percent since October 2016. Crude petroleum prices rose 6.6 percent for the month and are up 7.7 percent for the year. No other input manifested significant price growth in October.

Construction Input Prices Up in April, Led by Sharp Increases in Energy Prices

Construction Input Prices Surge to Start 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 14—Construction input prices collectively rose by 1 percent on a monthly basis and 3.8 percent on a year-over-year basis, according to analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors. This represents the fastest year-over-year rate of materials price inflation since the beginning of 2012. Overall Construction Input Prices Firm in December as Energy Prices Surge

Construction Input Prices Plummet in November

Construction input prices experienced their most rapid monthly decline since February 2016 in November, falling 0.5 percent according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Despite the month-over-month fall, input prices are up by 0.5 percent on a yearly basis for the second consecutive month.

Construction Input Prices Remain Flat in October

WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 16—Construction input prices remained unchanged in October and are just 0.5 percent above where they were a year ago, according to analysis of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Despite the modest increase in the aggregate input price level, today’s report represents the largest year-over-year price increase since November 2014. Generally, construction input prices, particularly natural gas and crude petroleum, have headed lower since the summer of 2014. However, that pattern of falling prices no longer holds. WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 15—Both nonresidential construction input prices and overall input prices fell in August as energy prices retrenched, according to an analysis of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index released today by Associated  Builders and Contractors (ABC).
