Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced Harold W. Bagley, an electrical and instrumentation instructor at ABC’s Pelican Chapter, as its 2012 Craft Instructor of the Year. Bagley received this honor April 25 during ABC’s EdCon & Expo in San Antonio. 

"Harold’s love of teaching and commitment to helping his students become the best and safest in their fields has earned him the title of 2012 Craft Instructor of the Year,” said 2012 ABC National Chairman Eric Regelin, president of Granix, LLC, Ellicott City, Md. “It is an honor to recognize Harold with this award.” 

Bagley has more than 38 years of industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation work. In addition to teaching at the ABC Pelican Chapter Training Center since 2004, Bagley taught at the Louisiana Technical College in Sorrento, La., for four years and continues to fill in as a substitute electrical teacher at the Baton Rouge Community College. He is NCCER-certified as a journeyman industrial electrician, a journeyman instrument technician, a specialty craft instructor, an instrumentation instructor, an electrical instructor and a core curricula instructor. During his time at the Pelican Chapter, Bagley has had no recordable incidents among his students. 

Each year, Bagley demonstrates his commitment to promoting craft training by participating in the local NCCER “Build Your Future” event that targets high school students. He also supports the National Craft Championships competition by encouraging his students to enter and by serving as a judge at the chapter level. As the 2012 Craft Instructor of the Year, Bagley received a cash prize from the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation, a notebook computer and leather jacket from NCCER.
