ABC members that attend the 2013 BizCon, Feb. 19-20, 2013, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will hear from leadership expert and best-selling author Patrick Lencioni. Registration is now open at www.abc.org/bizcon. Lencioni is founder and president of The Table Group, a firm dedicated to improving teamwork, clarity and employee engagement and is the author of 10 best-selling books, including The Five Temptations of a CEO; Silos, Politics and Turf Wars; and Overcoming the Five Dysfunctions of a Team. In his newest book, The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else in Business, Lencioni asserts that organizations need to tap into the intelligence and expertise they already have to achieve success. During his presentation, he will demonstrate why leaders and organizations should shift their focus to becoming healthier, instead of continuing to focus on conventional and largely exhausted areas like marketing, strategy and technology. He also will reveal the four steps to creating a healthy organization with minimal politics and confusion, high degrees of morale and productivity, and very low turnover among good employees. In addition to Lencioni, BizCon attendees will hear from economists Arthur Laffer and Anirban Basu who will offer their take on the economy and how it could impact attendees’ businesses and, Karl Rove, who will offer insight into the political landscape. As part of this year’s conference, ABC also is asking for member feedback on issues that are keeping their businesses from moving forward. All members are encouraged to send a short description of a key roadblock that is keeping their company from reaching its full potential to [email protected]. Roadblocks received from contractors across the nation will be posted anonymously on www.abc.org/bizcon.
