ABC Feb. 11 congratulated the winners of the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards– the industry’s leading competition, where the top construction projects and the firms that displayed exemplary commitment to safety and diversity in 2013 were recognized during the awards celebration at the Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii.

Interstates Companies, Sioux Center, Iowa, was named Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) 2013 Contractor of the Year during the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony, which was held Feb. 11 in Maui, Hawaii. 

ABC chapters and members can honor a Craft Professional or Craft Instructor by submitting a nomination for the 2014 Craft Professional of the Year (CPOY) and Craft Instructor of the Year (CIOY) Awards by March 7. The CPOY winner will receive a brand-new truck and the CIOY winner will receive a cash prize May 2 at ABC’s Careers in Construction Awards Ceremony.

ABC is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Craft Professional of the Year Award (CPOY) which honors an individual who exhibits outstanding skills and leadership and demonstrates a passion for their job in the field and giving back to the community. The winner will receive a brand new truck and a feature article in Construction Executive highlighting their hard work and dedication to the industry. 

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has added Metro Washington Chapter member Jim Anglemyer of WCS Construction, LLC, Washington, D.C., to the Beam Club Presidential Level, which recognizes ABC’s top membership recruiters.

ABC member companies took the top 10 spots on Engineering News-Record’s 2013 Top 400 Contractors list.  Those firms included: 

ABC congratulated its member companies that were awarded top honors for the Construction Users Roundtable’s (CURT) Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Awards and Workforce Development Awards at CURT’s Nov. 12 national conference in Tucson, Ariz. 

MTech Mechanical Technologies Group, Westminster, Colo., and Shaw Construction, Grand Junction, Colo., both members of the ABC Rocky Mountain Chapter, have been awarded Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) status by ABC.

Register an entry now for the ABC Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards for a chance to win more work by showcasing an innovative, high-quality, best-in-class project. The EIC awards competition recognizes projects that are the best from merit shop contractors; winners get industry-wide recognition and an advantage over competitors.

National Safety Excellence Award (NSEA) applications are due Oct. 25 and can be downloaded on ABC’s website. All 2013 Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Diamond and Platinum recipients are eligible to apply; there is no fee to participate. New for 2013, STEP Gold recipients may also apply for the NSEA by submitting the NSEA Gold application and $450 application fee. ABC members who do not have STEP status can learn more about STEP on ABC’s website.
