ABC is proud to announce 152 craft trainees will take part in its intense two-day National Craft Championships (NCC), April 30-May 3 in Birmingham, Ala., where they will compete in one of 13 competitions representing 11 crafts.
ABC Jan. 4 criticized President Obama for undermining the U.S. Senate’s advice and consent role by recess-appointing Democrats Sharon Block, deputy assistant secretary for congressional affairs at the Department of Labor; Richard Griffin, general counsel for the International Union of Operating Engineers to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB); and Republican Terence Flynn, chief counsel to NLRB member Brian Hayes.
At the request of a federal court judge, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Dec. 23 announced that it is again delayingimplementation of its requirement that employers post an 11-by-17-inch notice displaying a list of select employee rights granted by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) Feb. 1 signed into law a new right-to-work bill that will protect all workers in the state from being forced to pay union dues as a requirement of employment. Daniels signed the bill hours after it was passed by the Indiana legislature and ABC immediately expressed its support for the action.
In the Department of Labor (DOL) 2012 regulatory agenda released in January, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) listed action items on Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (I2P2); confined spaces in construction; crystalline silica exposure limits; and walking work surfaces; among other issues.
