The 2013 Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) applications are now available and have been mailed out to all ABC chapters and contractor members.

ABC Dec. 27, 2012, supported an amendment offered by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to H.R. 1, which is the vehicle for Superstorm Sandy supplemental appropriations, that would have waived the enforcement of Davis-Bacon Act requirements for projects funded under this legislation. The amendment failed 42-52.

A Philadelphia jobsite of longtime ABC member E. Allen Reeves, Inc., of Abington, Pa., was the target of vandalism during the Christmas holiday. Philadelphia police detectives say arsonists caused an estimated $500,000 in damages at the Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting, a new Quaker meetinghouse.

The Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division Dec. 21, 2012 announced the rule implementing Executive Order 13495, or Nondisplacement of Qualified Workers Under Service Contracts, will become effective Jan. 18.
