NCCER on Aug. 23 announced that it is modifying its certification terminology to clarify that a certified craft professional has successfully completed both the written and performance aspects of the National Craft Assessment and Certification Program.
ABC members that attend the 2013 BizCon, Feb. 19-20, 2013, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will hear from leadership expert and best-selling author Patrick Lencioni.
Members can demonstrate their commitment to ABC’s long-standing reputation for construction excellence and safety by branding their jobsites and company mailings with “ABC Member” logo stickers.
Delegates at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., Aug. 28, formally adopted the party’s national platform. Contained in the 54-page document is language that “demands an end to project labor agreements.” In addition, the platform calls for the repeal of the Davis-Bacon Act, “which costs taxpayers billions of dollars annually in artificially high wages on government projects.”
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, health insurance issuers are required to spend a minimum percentage of their premiums, called a medical loss ratio (MLR), on health care and health care quality improvement activities. Health insurance issuers that do not meet this minimum, which is at least 80 or 85 percent of their premiums, must pay a rebate to consumers.
ABC member Markwayne Mullin, owner of Mullin Plumbing, Inc., Broken Arrow, Okla., and a member of ABC’s Oklahoma Chapter, on Aug. 28 won a runoff race that allows him to compete for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
