OSHA has released a new bilingual English-Spanish booklet as part of their national campaign to prevent fatal falls titled, “Falling Off Ladders Can Kill: Use Them Safely.” 

The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce April 17 approved the Working Families Flexibility Act of 2013 (H.R. 1406) by a vote of 23-14. The bill would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act to provide compensatory time for employees in the private sector.

ABC April 15 sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee Tax Reform Working Group on Small Business outlining its top priorities for comprehensive tax reform.  In the letter, ABC listed its broader priorities for reforming the tax system as parity, simplicity and certainty.

On April 8, North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple signed into law H.B. 1270, which will ban government-mandated PLAs on state and local construction projects in the state. A week later, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie vetoed legislation (S. 2425) that would have expanded the ability of public entities in the state to mandate PLAs on taxpayer-funded contracts to rebuild New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy.
