The ABC National Executive Committee on Sept. 10 voted to absorb the Merit Elevator Contractors Association of America (MECAA) and allow them to operate as an ABC National standing committee.  

The ABC MECAA committee’s goals are to influence state-level elevator contractor and mechanics licensing requirements to ensure equal opportunities for all qualified contractors and their workers, regardless of their affiliation with a labor organization, to promote the merit shop elevator sector to the overall merit shop community and to advance the shared objectives of the two organizations. The committee will have its own leadership, budget and strategic plan.
