ABC announced it has made a seven-figure ad buy comprised of issue ads and express advocacy in six states. The ad buy will include radio and statewide digital ads in support of pro-free enterprise candidates and issues in Florida, Indiana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. “Associated Builders and Contractors was founded on a commitment to free enterprise, and too much hangs in the balance for us to sit on the sidelines during this critical election cycle,” said 2016 ABC National Chair David Chapin, president of Willmar Electric Service, Lincoln, Neb. of the express advocacy ads. “Many of the obstacles to growth the construction industry faces—including a cumbersome and ever-expanding regulatory regime and the highest effective tax rate of any industry—emanate from Washington, D.C. ABC is working to elect candidates who will fight for the system of free enterprise that we know leads to a growing economy, more construction projects and more jobs.” The issue-based ad buy, funded by the Free Enterprise Alliance, will highlight candidates’ stances on key issues impacting the merit shop construction industry and encourage support of a free enterprise system where contractors of all sizes can compete on a level playing field based on their own merits regardless of labor affiliation.
