ABC May 3 recognized the winners of its 13th annual Student Chapter Construction Management Competition during the 21st Century Workforce Development Conference, April 30 - May 3 in Birmingham, Ala. Teams of students from 14 colleges and universities across the nation competed for more than $6,000 in cash and prizes, as well as the coveted “Construction Management Champions” title. “This competition gives the nation’s top construction management students an opportunity to showcase their talents, while providing them a real-life glimpse into the world of construction,” said 2013 ABC National Chairman Greg Hoberock, CEO of hth companies, inc., Union, Mo. “The students all displayed great dedication and determination throughout the competition and were inspiring to watch.” Students went head to head in three areas: project management/scheduling, estimating and safety. Awards were given in each area, along with an overall award for the highest total points. The 2013 Student Chapter Construction Management Competition winners are: Construction Management Champions (team with highest overall points) First Place: The Ohio State University Second Place: Florida International University Third Place: Pennsylvania College of Technology Fourth Place: Texas A&M University – College Station Fifth Place: California State University – Long Beach Estimating First Place: California State University – Long Beach Second Place: The Ohio State University Third Place: Texas A&M University – College Station Project Management & Scheduling First Place: The Ohio State University Second Place: Florida International University Third Place: Pennsylvania College of Technology Safety First Place: Pennsylvania College of Technology Second Place: Auburn University Third Place: University of Northern Iowa
