The ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter and Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.) have partnered on an effort to bring nine Little Free Libraries to Pinellas County in Florida. Little Free Libraries are “take a book, leave a book” libraries designed to encourage kids to read by making books easily accessible at no cost. Jolly and his staff began collecting new and gently used children’s books for the libraries in October. Donations came from retired teachers, veterans and other constituents. ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter and member J.O. DeLotto and Sons helped out by installing the libraries. “Free Little Libraries are a great opportunity to make books accessible to kids and help them expand their love of learning through reading,” said Steve Cona III, President and CEO of ABC Florida Gulf Coast.” “Associated Builders and Contractors Florida Gulf Coast Chapter was excited to participate in this worthwhile community project that will hopefully inspire and educate young students.” Pinellas County high school students will be painting seven of the libraries before they are installed.
