The ABC Keystone, Eastern Pennsylvania, Western Pennsylvania and Cumberland Valley chapters recently signed a statewide letter of agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to help formerly incarcerated citizens kickstart a career in construction.
The agreement, the first of its kind in the commonwealth to cover all Pennsylvania counties, provides re-entering citizens with access to the registered apprenticeship programs offered through the four ABC chapters. State correctional institutions in Pennsylvania utilize the NCCER curriculum in multiple construction trades, making the partnership a natural extension of the education received while incarcerated. The agreement also calls on ABC chapters to promote the benefits of hiring individuals who are re-entering the workforce and attend job fairs, when feasible.
Contact your local ABC chapter in Pennsylvania for additional information on this initiative.
