ABC chapters and members can honor a craft professional or craft instructor by submitting a nomination for the 2014 Craft Professional of the Year (CPOY) and Craft Instructor of the Year (CIOY) Awards by March 7. The CPOY winner will receive a brand-new truck and the CIOY winner will receive a cash prize May 2 at ABC’s Careers in Construction Awards Ceremony, in Birmingham, Ala.

The CPOY Award is given to an individual who exhibits outstanding skills and leadership, demonstrates a passion for their trade, takes pride in hands-on work, and is committed to being the ultimate example of merit shop success in the field. Sponsored by Tradesmen International, the winner will receive a brand-new truck, a feature in Construction Executive magazine, and more. All finalists for CPOY will receive a prize pack plus airfare and hotel stay at ABC’s Workforce Development Conference, in Birmingham, Ala. Nominations can be submitted through the online nomination form on ABC’s website.

ABC presents the CIOY Award to an instructor who showcases creativity, a positive attitude, the ability to transfer knowledge through innovative and communicative teaching skills and who promotes lifelong learning to the future workforce. The recipient of this national award best embodies the merit shop ideals through superior effort and talent. The CIOY will win a $2,000 cash prize,  along with press coverage, airfare and a two-night hotel stay at ABC’s Workforce Development Conference. In addition, NCCER will provide the winner with a tablet and leather jacket. Nomination forms are available on ABC’s CIOY webpage.
