President Obama March 31 signed a memorandum of disapproval effectively vetoing the joint resolution to block the NLRB’s ambush election rule, which will shorten the amount of time between when a union files a representation petition and an election takes place to as few as 14 calendar days beginning on April 14. ABC is continuing their legal challenge to this rule. The joint resolution was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-Minn.) and the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), which ABC fully supported and urged President Obama to sign. The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW) along with ABC of Texas will continue to move forward with their lawsuits seeking to overturn the controversial rule.
