The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) announced a webinar series on the requirements for federal contractors and subcontractors when implementing the new Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act rules. The webinars will cover the two final rules published by the OFCCP Sept. 24, 2013, which drastically revise Section 4212 of VEVRAA and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, to require federal contractors and subcontractors to maintain affirmative action and nondiscrimination plans for veterans and individuals with disabilities, respectively. The rules will go into effect March 24, 2014. Registration is now open for the first webinar on Jan. 16, on creating a 503 AAP. To register and view the complete list of webinars please visit OFCCP’s website. NOTE: ABC’s lawsuit against the Section 503 rule remains pending, and it is not yet known whether parts of the 503 rule will be stopped from going into effect on March 24. The VEVRAA rule has not been challenged in court and will be going into effect on March 24.
