The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued three surveys about the potential use of government-mandated project labor agreements (PLAs) on projects in North Carolina and Florida. The USACE Wilmington, N.C. District has issued two requests for comments from the construction community for large-scale construction projects (exceeding $25 million) for the Battalion Operations Facility in Fort Bragg, N.C. Work will include constructing battalion headquarters and company operations facilities including secure administrative and operational work areas, classrooms, and conference rooms. For more information on the first project, click here and for information on the second project, click here. Both survey responses should be sent to Danielle Dinger, [email protected], by Dec. 21. The USACE also has issued a survey requesting comments on the potential use of a PLA for a large-scale construction project in Duke Field, Fla. To respond to the survey, click here. All comments must be sent to Geanette Kelley, [email protected], by Dec. 21. All ABC members and construction professionals are encouraged to respond to the request for information. Tell USACE that government-mandated PLAs harm competition, increase costs, and impede the economy and efficiency of government contracting. For more information about government-mandated PLAs, go to http://www.thetruthaboutplas.com, Facebook.com/thetruthaboutplas and Twitter.com/truthaboutplas. For questions or more information, contact ABC National Director of Labor and Federal Procurement Ben Brubeck, [email protected].
