In its Nov. 21 regulatory agenda, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lists expected actions on issues that include the Clean Water Act, the Power Plant Rule and the Lead Paint Renovation Repair and Painting Program.

Here’s what ABC members should know for the EPA rules expected to be addressed in 2015:

Clean Water Act
What to Expect: According to the agenda, EPA plans to issue a final rule by April 2015.

About the Proposal: The proposal aims to clarify the definition of “waters of the U.S.” under the Clean Water Act. This would significantly expand federal control of land and water resources across the nation—creating additional permitting and regulatory requirements.

ABC’s Actions: ABC and more than 50 ABC chapters filed comments  voicing deep concern over the proposed rule. ABC also filed additional comments with a group of 374 trade associations led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Waters Advocacy Coalition (WAC).

Power Plant Rule
What to Expect: EPA plans to issue a final rule by June 2015.

About the Proposal: The proposed power plant rule, also known as the Clean Power Plan, reduces greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants.

ABC’s Actions: ABC, as a part of the Partnership for a Better Energy Future, submitted comments expressing concerns about the proposed rule.

Lead Paint Renovation Repair and Painting Program
What to Expect: EPA plans to issue a proposed rule by July 2015.

About the Proposal: EPA is proposing to expand its existing Lead Paint Renovation and Repair Painting rule to include public and commercial buildings.
