The ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter broke ground April 11 in St. Rose, La. on Phase Two of their training campus master plan expansion, which includes an additional 18,000 square feet of classrooms, laboratories and welding booths for its apprenticeship and craft training program, as well as its safety and management education program.
ABC National joined ABC of Michigan as they filed an amicus brief Jan. 24 urging the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit to uphold Michigan’s Fair and Open Competition Act in response to a challenge filed by construction unions. The act ensures nondiscriminatory procurement of state services in public construction.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Oct. 10 announced ABC Hawaii Chapter member Kaleo Nawahine, president of Performance Systems, Inc., as the National Minority Small Business Person of the Year. Nawahine is certified in the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program.
