This year, elections for all 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 36 U.S. Senate seats, 36 governorships, and numerous state legislative and local government offices will take place Nov. 4. While turning up to vote in the upcoming elections is critical, there are things you can do now to directly advocate for the needs of your business and employees.
It’s always a good idea to take advantage of any opportunity to meet face to face with a legislator when he or she holds a town hall meeting or forum in the district, but it’s even better to organize a personal meeting or company event. With Congress on recess, now is an excellent time to schedule these events.
Congress is going on recess. And ABC members have a valuable opportunity to meet with legislators, develop a genuine rapport and communicate the critical issues facing the construction industry. To help members take make the most of the recess, ABC has put together a 2013 Congressional Recess Grassroots Toolkit.
Since its launch in February, ABC members have used the ABC Action app to send more than 3200 letters to their elected officials addressing issues critical to the merit shop construction industry.
ABC Feb. 6 launched the first-of-its-kind ABC Action app that enables users to become a vital part of ABC’s grassroots advocacy efforts and further the merit shop philosophy. The app is available for download on iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
