The Department of Energy (DOE) issued a request for information seeking a common definition for Zero Energy Buildings (ZEBs). The goal is to create a broadly accepted definition of ZEB boundaries and metrics to create a standard that regulators and the private entities can agree upon.
Green Globes® certification guides projects to save money, conserve energy and water use, use sustainable materials and create healthy indoor environments. It is a cost-effective system for designing, constructing and operating high-performance interiors, buildings and facilities.
The Green Building Initiative (GBI) announced June 4 that ABC National’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. is one of the first buildings to be certified under its new Green Globes for Sustainable Interiors (SI) program.
Members of the public can create an account with the International Code Council (ICC) and submit proposals for changes to the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) until Jan. 10. Any proposal submitted will be posted online by March 2014 to be reviewed by the public and heard by two technical committees in open hearings.
ABC is offering its members a series of Green Building Toolbox Talks, which are designed to help members drive green education to the craftworker level. The talks are also available in Spanish.
LEED v4 has been approved by a vote of U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) members and will be launched during the Greenbuild conference in November 2013.
