Washington, D.C. based ABC member company,
KADCON Corporation, teamed up with the
Hoops for Youth Foundation and the
Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation (MSE) to renovate an outdoor basketball court for
Horton’s Kids, a local nonprofit that provides education and enrichment programs to at-risk youth in Washington D.C.’s Ward 8.
“For 25 years Horton’s Kids has been serving the Ward 8 community, and we are so honored to work with the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and the Hoops for Youth Foundation to refurbish this basketball court for the children, “ said Brenda Chamberlain, executive director of Horton’s Kids. “The court means so much to the community; it enhances Horton’s Kids’ wrap-around services that help the children learn and stay healthy year-round.”
At the Dec. 3 ribbon-cutting celebration, MSE CEO and Washington Wizards Owner, Ted Leonsis, unveiled the new court to residents and children from the Wellington Park neighborhood in Southeast D.C. Wizards players Otto Porter Jr. and Jan Vesely shot hoops with the kids and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) provided remarks at the ceremony.

KADCON was hired by the Hoops For Youth Foundation as the project’s general contractor and renovated the run-down court and installed lights at cost.
“KADCON is pleased to assist the Wizards players, the MSE Foundation and the Hoops For Youth Foundation to make this court renovation a slam dunk for Horton’s Kids and the Ward 8 community,” said KADCON President, Greg Terry.
The renovation of the project was made possible by a generous grant from the MSE Foundation and money raised by the Hoops For Youth Foundation at the 15th Annual Congressional Charity All-Star Classic basketball game on Sept. 9, 2013, which pitted lawmakers vs. lobbyists, including ABC National’s own Ben Brubeck.
ABC members and community stakeholders can support the project by making a donation on the Hoops For Youth
