This holiday season, ABC’s chapters spent their time finding ways to volunteer and give back to the communities in which they live, involving both chapter staff and their member companies. Below are just a few examples of the generous efforts led by ABC Chapters.
At the
Southeast Michigan chapter, staff and members gave to a cause close to their hearts, raising more than $3,600 for 15-year-old Amber, the granddaughter of a former ABC board member, who is fighting bone cancer.
This year,
ABC Florida East Coast Chapter’s annual event, Handlebars for the Holiday’s, partnered with the Brevard County Sherriff’s office to give about 200 bikes to children in the area. The bikes, donated by local retailers or individuals were refurbished and then given to the kids along with a helmet and bike lock. ABC Florida East Coast raised over $10,000 to make the event possible.
All three branches of the
ABC Virginia chapter held toy drives at their regional holiday parties. In Northern Virginia, the chapter collected more than 200 toys to be donated to
Our Neighbors Child, a local organization that provides holiday gifts for children in low income families. The chapter’s Central Virginia office donated more than 100 toys to
Help Claire Help Kids, an organization created to help hospitalized and chronically ill children.
Toys for Tots also received more than 200 toys from the Hampton Roads branch of the ABC Virginia chapter. The
ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter also donated more than 200 toys to Toys for Tots at their holiday party.
Other chapters, including the
ABC Carolinas chapter,
ABC of Utah and
ABC of Mississippi and many more also held toy drives at their holiday events.
ABC of Oklahoma also took part in holding a toy drive and donated the gifts to children of the deployed military from the 486th Civil Affairs Battalion. The
ABC Arkansas chapter got into the spirit of the holidays by adopting three Angel Tree families and gathering gifts from members to provide the families in time for Christmas.
