In advance of a hearing on the topic, ABC sent a letter April 14 to the U.S. House of Representatives encouraging Congress to repeal the employer mandate included in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Since the implementation of the healthcare law five years ago, ABC has expressed their concerns that the mandate creates uncertainty and confusion in the construction industry, making it difficult for the nation’s contractors to plan for the future and create jobs. In addition, ABC believe that forcing employers to offer government-prescribed health insurance would leave ABC members without the option to structure health care coverage options to meet their needs, ultimately resulting in increased costs and the inability to maintain affordable coverage options for their employees.
