Beginning Dec. 15, ABC will stop processing Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) applications for 2014 in order to close out the year and begin the annual STEP data analysis. This analysis, completed using data submitted by STEP participants, provides ABC members who apply for STEP a benchmarking tool for their companies compared to other STEP participants of similar work type/size and the rest of the construction industry. If you want to submit an application, now is the time. 

In addition, the 2015 STEP Application will be available for download beginning Jan. 1.  New for 2015, the application page has been moved up in the instruction book for ease of use, while companies who wish to contest their STEP level based on Experience Modification Rate (EMR) or incidence rate qualifiers may do so to the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. For the final time, the application will also be mailed out to members beginning the last week of December and in 2016, STEP will go online and paper applications will only be available for download on the ABC website.
